About

At the time the original Ferraud, Philibert, arrived in Belleville to create his wine business in 1882, wines left the vineyard in traditional 215-litre barrels called “pièces” on ox-drawn carts. They were then shipped in barrels from the cellars by barge and rail. Five generations later, much, but not all, has changed. Yves-Dominque cultivates the authenticity on which the estate has built its reputation, and still employs the one-hundred-year-old traditional method of breeding in wooden tuns. But he knows how to listen to today’s markets. Each wine is aged separately, according to its temperament, with an emphasis on letting the character of the grapes from each parcel shine through.

Located in magnificent surroundings, the soils around Belleville-sur-Saône are rich clay-limestone and granite sandstone, producing the typical aromatic, fruity wines synonymous with the region -  some straightforward, others more complex. The property flirts with the Mâconnais too, due to its geographical location and family history. Maison P. Ferraud & Fils produces fresh, vibrant wines with tons of charisma, just like Yves himself.
